Utkarsh Sharma on working with Sunny Deol in Gadar 2: it was a dream come true

Gadar 2 has created absolute gadar since its release. Despite the passage of some time, the film has achieved something truly remarkable by climbing to the 4th position among the highest-grossing Hindi movies of all time.  `Gadar 2` can now proudly boast its membership in the exclusive 500 crore club, a clear testament to its enduring popularity.

Despite facing a clash with Akshay Kumar-starrer `OMG 2`, the film witnessed a historic collection standing second to only Shah Rukh Khan`s `Jawan` which was released recently.

Helmed by Anil Sharma, `Gadar 2` is a sequel to the hit film which was released in theatres in 2001. In the film. Sunny Deol played the role of Tara, a truck driver, while Ameesha played Sakina in the film that was set during the partition of India in 1947. `Gadar 2` follows Tara Singh as he ventures across the border in a daring attempt to rescue his son, portrayed by Utkarsh Sharma, who has been captured in Pakistan.

Utkarsh Sharma exclusively spoke to Mid-day about the experience of working with Sunny Deol, he said, “Well, with Sunny Sir, it was a dream come true for any actor, and especially for me, who has had the pleasure of working with him as a child and now as an adult. It was an amazing work environment with him because he is a very supportive actor, and a real team player; that`s his biggest quality.

When talking about what lessons he’s learned from Sunny Deol, he said, ”He puts his all into scenes, so when you learn from people who have achieved everything like Sunny Sir, you grow as an actor. When you play with the best, they elevate you to their level also. So, I think I have been very lucky to work with him. The best thing that I learned from him was that during the scenes, every actor, whether small or big, everyone is so important. He has that guiding aura, and I think that is something I`ve picked up from him and would like myself to implement.”

With Gadar 2 now on the OTT platform, Utkarsh Sharma shared, “I can imagine a lot of them must be people who were not able to get tickets, or they must be really busy to have missed out on `Gadar 2,` because a lot of people have watched it. I don`t remember meeting anyone in recent memory who has not watched the film. So, if you are one of the unlucky ones, you can get lucky again”
